Tributes
Lillian was such a wonderful and very special person. She was a good and faithful friend and she could not have been a kinder or more generous godmother. She was always the life and soul of any party and full of fun. She was kindness personified.
Lillian had a special capacity to make me feel at home, in her home, wherever we happened to meet up. She provided a quality of acceptance, safety and warmth (combined with a little bit of indulgence) that was matched only by my own mother. Through all the years I knew her, she retained a youthfulness, and a capacity to find delight in life. For these qualities, and the love and wisdom she offered, I thank her, and shall miss her deeply.
I remember well meeting her at Sumarah, and enjoying the chance to talk a little with someone as distinguished, cultivated and international.
Dear Lillian. It was such a pleasure to get to meet her a little bit. She was so dignified and clear. Such a bright and interested mind, and still so engaged with things.
I did not know Lillian well, but I felt close to her anyway. I mean, after all, she was the only one in the 'English part' of my family who knew that to make real, good chicken stock you have to boil the whole chicken and not just the bones. I am so very sad that I am not going to see her again.
What a strong and lovely and intelligent and kind mother you had, Sandra and Kris. What a bright spark.
Your Mum really really “touched” me. I respected and admired her deeply and she really made me think about myself and my attitude to people
The night of your wedding I had a lovely chat with your Mum and she struck me as a real lady.
Your mother Lillian was a very special person. I so admired her gentle manner and acceptance of life.
Thank you Lillian….for me it has been a joy and a lesson and example of how to live life.
I saw Lillian at all sorts of times... She was never effusive or over the top. She was just brimming over with patience and tolerance and loving kindness. Just so. That’s my ‘Just So’ story. I am so lucky to have known her.
